A Canfield Casino wedding puts you inside Congress Park for the whole day. The reception room is the reason to book it: classic wood floors, stained glass overhead, a building that photographs like it was built for weddings.
Ready to see if we are available?
Check my availability — I'll walk you through how the light moves in that park and how to have the most incredible day there.
Congress Park is planted, maintained, and in full bloom by June. The garden beds and the old trees give you backdrops most venues would charge you to build. There's one tree in particular I keep coming back to. I made a bridal portrait in front of it that's still one of my favorite frames from that day — classic, elegant, nothing in it but her and the park. I'll walk you to it.
Three things do the work here. The reception room, with those floors and the stained glass Richard Canfield put in when he added the room back in 1902. The park, because the venue sits inside it, which means your portraits are a walk and not a drive. And the exterior, where a pair of old doors and a stairwell give me some of the best photos on the property.
The stained glass sits high, so the color drops down onto the floor rather than across people's faces. As the sun moves, the room changes on its own.
Your first dance happens on a floor that's already doing something. That's rare, and it's why I push couples to keep the uplighting simple.
The Adelphi Hotel — my first recommendation. Walkable to the park, and the getting-ready photos are worth the room rate on their own.
Any downtown hotel five minutes out works. Close beats fancy.
You'll start your morning somewhere else. There's no getting-ready space in the building, so plan a hotel room and plan it close.
I recommend the Adelphi. It's minutes from Congress Park and the rooms actually photograph well, which matters more than couples expect. The first two hours of your day end up in your gallery, and you want them to look like they belong with the rest.
Ninety minutes before sunset. That's the window, and I build the day around it.
That's when the light comes through the park at the angle that makes it glow. In summer you've got blooming trees and flowers to put behind you. In fall the whole park turns orange and you barely have to do anything. My favorite frames from the wedding I shot there are the couple next to a blooming tree, and they happened in that window.
This is the best part of the building. Wood floors with real character, stained glass catching the light as the evening goes, and a room that already looks finished before anyone hangs a thing.
Next door there's a full bar and a separate room for cocktail hour, which keeps the flow easy. Your guests have somewhere to be while the main room does its thing.
Two old doors and a stairwell on the outside of the building. They don't show up in the venue photos and most people walk past them.
They're the kind of spot that gives you a portrait no other venue in Saratoga can hand you. Five minutes, two setups, and you've got something nobody else has.

Blake is probably one of the best humans I have ever met. Not only is he kind, understanding, compassionate and tons of fun, but he is the most talented wedding photographer out there! If I had to do my big day all over again, Blake is definitely a huge part I would insist on including!
